Your coding agent can read your architecture decisions

Gateway Architect exposes your organization’s decision corpus over the Model Context Protocol. Claude Code, Claude Desktop and any other MCP client can ask what your team already decided, and why, while they are writing code against it.

Endpoint

One hosted server. There is nothing to install and nothing to run locally.

Server URL

https://www.gatewayarchitect.ai/api/mcp

Use the www. host exactly as written. The bare domain redirects, and HTTP clients drop the Authorization header across a host change, so the apex form fails with “Missing Authorization header” even when your token is correct.

Connect

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http gateway-architect \
  https://www.gatewayarchitect.ai/api/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer oga_your_token_here"

Claude Desktop, claude_desktop_config.json

  "mcpServers": {

      "transport": "streamable-http",

      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer oga_your_token_here"
      }
    }
  }
}

Restart the client. The six tools below appear and are callable immediately.

Getting a token

  1. Create an account and an organization.
  2. Go to Settings, then Configuration, then API tokens. Minting a token is an admin action.
  3. Copy the oga_ value. It is shown once.

A token belongs to one organization. It authorizes as the person who created it and reads only what that person can read. If you belong to two organizations, you need two tokens and two connections. A token cannot reach across organizations, and removing its creator from the organization revokes it immediately.

The six tools

ToolAccessWhat it does
search_decisionsreadFind decisions by a fragment of a title or topic.
relevant_contextreadGiven one decision, return the ones that bear on it, ranked with implementation outcomes taken into account.
get_decision_with_relationshipsreadOne decision in full, with its typed relationships to others.
get_constraints_for_scopereadThe rails a change inside a project or module has to respect.
get_corpus_ledgerreadActive supersession chains and unresolved contradictions.
record_outcomewriteWrite back what happened when a decision was applied. The only tool that writes.

What it will not do

  • Create or approve decisions. There is no tool that writes an architectural decision, and none that approves or rejects one. Approval is a governed act that stays with a person in the application.
  • Read past your own access. Every call resolves what the issuing person can read and scopes the query to it. Membership of an organization grants nothing by itself.
  • Reach another organization, even when the same person belongs to both.

Rate limit is 60 requests per minute per token, adjustable per token. Every call counts, including handshake and tool listing.

What this is for

An AI coding agent reads your code. It cannot read the reasoning behind it, so it re-derives decisions your team settled a year ago, in ignorance of why. Gateway Architect is an Organizational Memory Platform™: it captures decisions as they are made, records what actually happened when they were implemented, and returns the relevant one at the moment the next decision is being taken. The MCP server is how that reaches the tools your engineers already use.
